Session 1
For advanced students and professionals 18+ year of age
May 27 to July 6, 2013 (6 weeks)
This session will include a 3-week immersion in William Forsythe's Improvisational Technologies conducted by his representative Alessio Silvestrin, who will also choreograph a new work in collaboration with the students developed from their improvisation studies.
During weeks 1-3 students will develop new work in collaboration with Alex Ketley. Summer Lee Rhatigan will teach highly-challenging ballet classes on a daily basis and will also conduct in-depth technique coaching sessions. Chiharu Shibata, Tristan Ching, Christian Burns, and Aline Wachsmuth will also be teaching in this session.
As the program days are 8-10 hours long, six days a week, we are careful to accept dancers who demonstrate not only great passion for their art form, but also physical strength, stamina and mental fortitude.
Session 1 will culminate in two theater performances on:
- Friday, July 5th, 7:30 pm at Z Space/Theater Artaud
- Saturday, July 6th, 2 pm at Z Space/Theater Artaud
Tuition for Session 1: $3,000
Tuition for Sessions 1 and 3 combined: $5,000
