Pilates training at the Conservatory is conducted by certified Pilates instructors Emily Jones and Julia Hollas—both of whom are dancers whose abbreviated bios appear below. Emily and Julia are available for either private or semi-private (ie. for 2 people) training sessions of 55-minute duration. Emily is generally available for appointments on Wednesdays between 2 and 4 pm and Thursdays between 3 and 6 pm. Julia is generally available on Mondays and Fridays between 1:30 and 4:30 pm. Emily has a Level 1 STOTT Pilates certification for Mat and Reformer, and has also completed the STOTT Pilates “Injuries and Special Populations” course. She is working toward full certification on all the equipment. She is also a certified TRX® Suspension Trainer®. Emily has found Pilates to be of great help for her own dance training, and greatly enjoys her ongoing education on how the body functions. She is excited to be able to help clients gain strength and ease in movement, whether recovering from injury or just working toward more balance, power and flexibility in the body.
Julia is an ITT-Certified Comprehensive Pilates Instructor and professional dancer. She has taught Pilates to art students, people searching for ways to overcome injury and chronic pain, pre-professional and professional dancers, and people searching for a well-rounded approach to fitness. When not teaching Pilates, Julia can usually be found in a dance studio—she currently performs with Alyce Finwall Dance Theater, Project Thrust, and Dandelion Dancetheater. Julia grew up in New Mexico, graduated from the University of Utah, and has happily landed in the Bay Area.
