Elke Schepers, Ballet Mistress, Netherlands Dance Theater (Guest Teacher)
After fifteen years dancing with Netherlands Dance Theater 1 under the direction of Jiri Kylian, Elke now serves as NDT’s part-time ballet mistress. Her association with NDT actually began when she joined the junior company in 1985 after studying dance at the Scapino Dance Academy in Amsterdam.
Elke has worked extensively with such leading choreographers as Jiri Kylian, Mats Ek, William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin and Hans van Manen. She was awarded the Silver Theaterdance prize for her leading role in Mats Ek’s
A Sort of.
She currently sets works from Mr. Kylian’s repertory on professional dance companies, pursues her own dance projects and teaches yoga.
