Tristan Ching, Former Dancer,
Robert Moses’ KIN

Tristan Ching received her early ballet training at the Westside School of Ballet in Santa Monica, CA and at the San Francisco Ballet School. She began studying modern dance with Diane Frank and Robert Moses at Stanford University, where she graduated with a BA in English and an MA in Dance Education.

Tristan began dancing with Robert Moses’ Kin in 1995, the year the company was founded. In addition to performing and touring, her eleven year tenure with the company allowed her many varied and rewarding opportunities—teaching master classes, setting Mr. Moses work on companies and schools around the country, and participating in writing workshops during RMK’s 1994 collaboration with Youth Speaks.

In addition to Robert Moses’ Kin, Tristan has had the privilege of working with Janice Garrett, Stephen Pelton, Alexander Proia, and Enrico Labayen, and touring with the New York based company, Chen and Dancers.

Life as a semi-retired dancer has found Tristan traveling, writing, learning tango, and enjoying fresh perspectives on her life long passion for dance. At the Conservatory, she hopes to help young dancers realize their potential as individual artists while appreciating their role as part of a larger artistic vision, and integrate dance into their multi-faceted lives in a way that is personally fulfilling.
